The Bear River First Nation, located just outside Annapolis Royal, participated in the 400th anniversary of the founding of Port-Royal by producing a play called "The People's Story," to offer a Mi'kmaq perspective on the past. Usually performed at a new facility on the reserve, a version of the play opened the festivities to mark the quadricentenary of Port-Royal in 2005.
